Concord Pavilion is now Toyota Pavilion + Tips

In the interest of consumer help to save some money and frustration when attending shows at the Concord Pavilion in California (now called the Toyota Pavilion), I give these helpful tips after attending a show there last week. There’s no need to pay for expensive parking ($70 now) or express entry, or any of the other multitude of add-ons they will try and sell you to make more money for Live Nation.

  • The official website is https://www.livenation.com/venue/KovZpZA7kdlA/toyota-pavilion-at-concord-events . Beware that if you just search for the venue name, some of the first results direct you to alternate and not official sites that may not be in your interest
  • Parking there is very expensive, chaotic, and time-consuming. Instead park at the Concord BART station (parking is free on weekends and after 3pm weekdays) and take the FREE luxury coach shuttle that runs every 20 minutes or so. It’s large, comfortable, and air-conditioned and drops you off right at the gate!
  • After the show, take the same shuttle back to BART and avoid 1-2 hours of being stuck in traffic. This information is buried on various websites and not promoted much by the venue.
  • You can bring in up to a one liter bottle of sealed water, and refill it at free water stations on site. Of course, there are plenty of vendors there for drinks and food if you want that also.
  • You can bring in food if it’s picnic type food and in a CLEAR 1 gallon bag.
  • If you can manage to go without any type of bag (including the clear bag), they usually have a special line for NO BAGS that is much shorter than the general line. You can also pay for fast entry if you do have a bag and don’t want to wait in the general line.
  • Enjoy the show! I found the venue comfortable and well maintained with helpful security and ushers.

Covid is Done

It took three years, just like the 1918 pandemic, but things are mostly normal. Some of the crazy things that happened these three years.

It’s no secret inflation is running “hot” this year, with May 2022 CPI at 8.3% yearly. That seems low….this post will track all the little pricing increases I see during daily life that shows the real numbers.

Seemed like we licked it, then Delta came and walloped us all over again. Looks like it’ll be three years before it’s over, like many experts predicted.

Election 2020

After a contentious election season and several days of world-on-edge waiting, a new president elect is chosen!

Of course, sore losers abound

The tasks Biden faces are huge, with the Covid epidemic back into “exponential growth mode” and a divided nation. Biden won by sevaral million votes but nearly 50% still voted for Trump.  California exports to Arizona and a reinforced democrat vote in the upper Midwest sealed the victory.
